Kay Haskins(of Trashy Princess) is a Mixed Media and Textile Artist who specialises in collage, mixed media techniques and recycled textiles. A reoccurring echo throughout her work is that of identity, personal memories and nostalgia. Kay draws upon her childhood memories, behavioural instincts in Alzheimer’s patients and significant objects to help stimulate her practice. She looks to vintage and family photographs, recycled fabrics, old papers, letters and postcards for inspiration. She creates unique and charming, contemporary textile and paper pieces. Key interests for Kay are a variety of mixed media techniques and layering processes including collage, printing, construction and deconstruction, felt making and embellishing a variety of handmade surfaces to a professional standard.
